The Power Plant will be located at Karbala and will be based on state-of-the art gas turbine technology. Its main characteristics will be: 10 GE Frame 9E gas turbine units, outdoor type, each in the range of 125MW; the main fuel will be Crude Oil and the back-up fuels will be Light Distillate Oil and Natural Gas; the plant will be designed for simple cycle operation, however its operation as combined cycle is expected in future.
