Hanoi Metro Line 3: Innovation in Vietnam’s urban public transport

Given the experience of IDOM in the implementation of all the different phases of metro projects, the Vietnamese authorities has contracted our firm to carry out the Project Management of the new Line 3 in Hanoi, as well as a training program for Vietnamese technical staff.
IDOM has been appointed by the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB) to lead the project management and technical training for Hanoi Metro Line 3. This partnership draws on IDOM’s extensive experience in metro projects, providing comprehensive project management services and a specialized training program for Vietnamese technical teams.
Hanoi’s Line 3, known as the pilot line, will span approximately 12.5 km, including 4 km underground. The project will deliver 12 stations—8 elevated and 4 underground—as well as depots and workshops in the Nhon area. The total investment, estimated at €1.176 billion, will equip the system with state-of-the-art signaling, communications, operations equipment, and the most advanced rolling stock.
This contract marks IDOM’s second major metro project in Vietnam, following previous feasibility studies and basic designs in Ho Chi Minh City. IDOM’s involvement ensures innovation and technical excellence in the development of infrastructure essential for urban mobility in Vietnam.
