How can we accelerate the transformation of public transport?

The UITP Summit 2025, held in Hamburg, focused on the main trends that are transforming public transport: digitalization, sustainability, new management models, and financing. IDOM played an active role in this global meeting, presenting its vision and solutions alongside industry leaders.

During the conference, our team met with operators, transportation authorities, and technology companies to explore ways to address today’s major challenges: decarbonization, integrating new technologies, and ensuring the resilience of urban infrastructures.

In addition to using our stand as a meeting point this year, we participated in the session “Transforming Public Transport in LAC: Data, Governance, Project Management, and Funding”, which was organized by the UITP (International Association of Public Transport), the UCCI (Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities), the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), and the CAF (Development Bank of Latin America)

During the third part of the session, which focused on Project Management Offices (PMOs) for public transportation systems, our colleagues Elena Varillas (Rail & Transit Commercial Director) and Juan José Bermejo (Telecommunications Director) discussed IDOM’s experience managing and developing projects in Latin America. They emphasized the importance of governance, funding, and digitization for successful mobility systems.

The most relevant topics discussed at the congress and at our stand included:

  • The role of artificial intelligence and data analytics in improving operational efficiency and passenger experience.

  • Innovative financing models to drive the transition to more sustainable transportation systems.

  • Strategies for integrating active and collective mobility in urban planning.

  • Real-life examples of successful digitization, presented by our experts, that are making a difference in European and Latin American cities.

We would like to thank everyone who shared their vision, challenges, and proposals with our team. These conversations motivate us to continue working to transform mobility and build more sustainable, connected cities.
