We design the new Coliseum stadium for Getafe CF: a cutting-edge project for Spanish football
IDOM has been selected as the company responsible for the design of Getafe CF’s new Coliseum stadium, an ambitious project that will completely transform the Madrid club’s current sports complex. The work, which began on 9 June 2025, will be carried out by the construction company Amenabar and has an estimated timeframe of 30 months.
The new Coliseum, detailed yesterday by our colleague Diego Rodríguez, during the Club’s presentation of the new season, will be a modern, functional and sustainable stadium, with a capacity increased to 20,000 spectators. The design envisages the creation of a uniform ring of fully covered stands, the elimination of the perimeter pit, the installation of giant screens, VIP boxes and a wraparound façade with diagonal columns and translucent panels that will allow multimedia projections. It will be more accessible, more comfortable and we will improve the public space around it, enhancing the connection between the urban fabric of Getafe and the nearby hill, with new possibilities of use for the neighbours.
The project will be developed in phases, allowing Getafe CF to continue to play its home matches while the works are being carried out. This intervention is part of the agreement between LaLiga and the CVC Capital Partners fund, which has allowed Spanish clubs to invest in strategic infrastructures.
At IDOM, we have approached this challenge with a comprehensive vision that combines architecture, engineering and sustainability. Our objective has been to provide the club with a facility that not only meets the standards of elite football, but also becomes an urban and social reference for the city of Getafe.
This project reinforces IDOM’s position as a leader in the design of sports infrastructures at a national and international level, and consolidates our experience in the transformation of spaces that generate a positive impact on their surroundings.
