Tordesillas solar plant project (315 MW)

Spain

IDOM developed the basic and detailed engineering for the plant, covering all disciplines and systems up to the interconnection point at the 30/132 kV step-up substation, built on site and connected via a 132 kV underground line to the Promotores step-up substation.

At present, the facility is completely finished and making remarkable progress in initial operation tests.

Main characteristics of the photovoltaic plant

The Tordesillas project stands out for its scale and the implementation of technological solutions aimed at maximizing energy production.

Tracker

  • SOLTEC technology in a double row configuration.
  • 4 strings per tracker, optimizing electrical density per tracker.
  • 5.6 m pitch between rows.

Photovoltaic modules

The plant incorporates a mix of state-of-the-art Canadian Solar bifacial modules:

  • Unit power ratings of 695, 700, 705, and 710W.
  • A total of 448,112 modules installed.
  • Electrical configuration:
    • 16,004 strings.
    • 28 modules per string.

Inverters and transformers

  • Sungrow 350 kVA inverters, one of the highest capacity string inverters currently on the market.
  • Two types of transformers:
    • 44 units of 6,400 kVA.
    • 10 units of 3,200 kVA.

The plant is currently in the commissioning phase, which includes verifying electrical integration, checking communications between equipment, conducting initial performance evaluations, and coordinating with the interconnection substation.
