World Water Day: Toward more resilient water management
Water management is now a strategic issue, not just a technical one.
In recognition of World Water Day 2026, promoted by the United Nations, the growing imbalance between water availability and ever-increasing demand is highlighted as a key challenge.
This year’s message emphasizes how climate change, resource depletion, and insufficient investment are exacerbating water scarcity worldwide, resulting in social, economic, and environmental consequences.
Considering this, water takes on an additional strategic dimension, especially in conflict zones. With this in mind, we present the article “ The Weaponization of Water: Dominant Trends and Call for a Paradigm Shift,” by Dalia Dandan. She is a project manager at IDOM with experience in water projects in the Middle East. In the article, Dandan analyzes this trend and the need to transition to more resilient systems adapted to uncertainty.
