DAT Alierta selected for the São Paulo International Architecture Biennial

The master plan for the new Aragonese Technology District (DAT) Alierta, designed by IDOM, has been selected to participate in the 14th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo. This event is one of the most important on the international scene and will be held at the Oca in Ibirapuera Park, an iconic work by Oscar Niemeyer.

Under the banner “Extremes: Architectures for a Hot World,” the Biennial brings together proposals that address climate change and social justice from an architectural perspective. DAT Alierta stands out for its landscape approach, integration with the Ebro River environment, and commitment to a greener, bluer, and more inclusive urban model.

The district, an initiative of the Government of Aragon and the Aragonese Institute of Development, is located between the Actur and Juslibol neighborhoods on the Río Ebro campus in Zaragoza. It will occupy 79 hectares, of which 49 will be newly developed and 30 are existing infrastructure. The project incorporates water heritage as a structuring element, restoring the riverbank ecosystem and creating a microclimate that promotes biodiversity.

Additionally, the park will help diversify and modernize the region’s economy by leveraging new technologies and digital transformation opportunities. This will generate quality employment, attract talent, and draw investment.

DAT Alierta is designed to be an innovation ecosystem where universities, research centers, technology companies, collaborative living spaces, and sports and cultural areas coexist. Its collaborative design and connection with other technology hubs in Aragon reinforce its role as a driver of economic and social transformation for the region.

This recognition of DAT Alierta at the São Paulo Biennial reinforces IDOM’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and responsible urban design, and positions the project as an international benchmark in the development of cities of the future.
