IDOM joins the GreenH2Atlantic project to provide engineering services and specialized support
Backed by six leading companies in the energy and industrial sector — Bondalti, EDP, ENGIE, Galp, Martifer, and Vestas — HYTLANTIC, S.A. is promoting the GreenH2Atlantic project, a strategic initiative that marks a milestone in the European energy transition. The project involves converting the former Sines coal-fired power plant site (Portugal) into a 100 MW flexible green hydrogen production plant powered exclusively by solar and wind energy. The hydrogen produced will be supplied to the Sines refinery and the national natural gas network. This will contribute to the decarbonization of industry and the development of sustainable mobility solutions.
The GREENH2ATLANTIC project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101036908. It is also co-funded by the European Union under the Emission Trading System – Innovation Fund.
IDOM has been selected to provide engineering and specialized support resources to drive the project forward from its current pre-FEED phase. The initial goal is to reach an investment decision. IDOM will coordinate technical activities between manufacturers and engineers, manage interfaces, support the development of the execution strategy, and analyze key aspects of the electrical connection.
The scope includes integrating the renewable energy and hydrogen plants, installing the electrolysis system and associated equipment, and providing the necessary infrastructure and balance of plant. It also includes support up to the hydrogen delivery interface.
IDOM would like to thank HYTLANTIC for trusting it to carry out this project. This project adds to the company’s extensive experience in developing and supporting clients in green hydrogen and energy transition projects. GreenH2Atlantic positions Portugal as a leader in the global hydrogen market and sets an example of sustainability and innovation in Europe.
