IDOM participates in the first Urban Air Mobility Forum in Madrid
On Monday, October 20, the Palacio de Cibeles hosted the First Madrid Urban Air Mobility Forum. The event was promoted by the Madrid City Council and featured the presentation of the White Paper on Urban Air Mobility, the first roadmap of its kind promoted by a major European city.
Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida opened the event, stressing that “Madrid must lead the debates on innovation and mobility” and announcing that the city will have specific air mobility regulations in place before 2028. The White Paper proposes the progressive development of urban air mobility in three phases: 2026–2028, 2029–2031, and 2032 and beyond. This development includes pilot projects, vertiport creation, eVTOL aircraft integration, and air corridor establishment.
Javier Losada, IDOM‘s Director of Aviation Business Development, participated in the roundtable discussion, “Infrastructure, the Environment, and Public Acceptance,” which addressed the challenges of implementing this new transportation model in cities, including planning specific infrastructure, managing the environment, and integrating these technologies into society.
IDOM’s participation in this forum demonstrates our commitment to developing innovative, sustainable mobility and aviation solutions. Leveraging its experience in designing and planning airport and transportation infrastructure, IDOM is contributing to defining the technical and strategic framework that will integrate urban air mobility as an essential part of future cities.
