IDOM receives the COIIB award for best engineering project

On the 75th anniversary of the Official Association of Industrial Engineers of Bizkaia (COIIB), celebrated at the Euskalduna Palace, IDOM was awarded the Prize for Best Engineering Project for the development of the Prefocal Stations for the Extremely Large Telescopes (ELT).

This accolade, presented by Asier Abaunza, Bilbao City Council’s Councillor for Urban Planning, Strategic Projects and Public Space, is a testament to the work of our team. Represented by Amaia Ormaetxe Albeniz, Asier Larringan Zarate, Gaizka Murga Llano and Amaia Zarraona Garmendia, our team has spearheaded a project that has placed Basque engineering at the forefront of the international stage.

The event brought together over 400 professionals and institutions from industrial and technological fields. Alongside the Best Engineering Project Award, Juan Tomás Hernani (CEO of Satlantis and President of YEESS_Syndicate (Young European Enterprises Syndicate for Spaces)) was presented with the Engineer of the Year Award, and Nerea Marrodán (engineer at Mercedes-Benz) was presented with the Emerging Engineering Talent Award. These awards reflect the diversity and talent that will drive the future of our industry.

We would like to thank the Official Association of Industrial Engineers of Bizkaia (COIIB) for this recognition. This recognition motivates us to continue addressing the significant technological challenges of today and tomorrow, while promoting open, dedicated, and internationally renowned engineering expertise from the Basque Country.
