Iñaki Garai talks about architecture, Bilbao and the future of the profession
On March 27, the prestigious international architecture platform Archello published a new episode of its podcast series. This time, the guest was our colleague Iñaki Garai, who, in an in-depth interview, recalled some of the key milestones of his professional career and reflected on IDOM’s role in the transformation of Bilbao, from the Guggenheim to the San Mamés stadium.
In conversation with Archello Editor-in-Chief Collin Anderson, Garai shared his vision of contextual design and the collaborative philosophy that defines IDOM, a firm that has been able to integrate architecture and engineering since its inception. He also reflected on the firm’s internationalization and the current challenges facing the sector.
