PASREL: A building linking science, education and the city in Paris-Saclay
The consortium led by IDOM has won, in a public ideas competition, the contract for the design and construction management of the PASREL building. Located in Paris-Saclay, the project proposes a milestone in the integration of scientific research, academic training and the connection of science with citizens.
The PASREL building’s program ranges from the production of radioactive isotopes for medical purposes to spaces for training, diagnostic imaging, radiochemistry, radiopharmacy, offices and an exhibition area open to the public. All this is articulated in an architectural ensemble that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and openness to the city and its citizens.
The design is composed of two interconnected volumes that function as a single entity, with common spaces that encourage interaction between users and departments. The access plaza and the glazed volume invite citizens to participate in this space of shared knowledge.
PASREL is more than a building: it is a statement of principles on how architecture can contribute to the advancement of health, science and its service to society.
