Presenting the new AP68 tolling model to the General Assembly

The Provincial Deputy for Sustainable Mobility and Road Infrastructure of the Alava Provincial Council (DFA), Jon Nogales, attended a briefing session at the General Assembly on April 11, to present the conclusions of the feasibility study and preliminary design of the new toll collection system for the Alava section of the AP68 motorway, prepared by IDOM.

Beatriz Chávarri and Nuria Gómez assisted the provincial deputy in the technical presentation of the new system to be implemented: a mixed system based on free-flow technology to facilitate barrier-free passage and conventional toll booths, in front of the representatives of the different political parties that make up the Commission for Sustainable Mobility and Road Infrastructure.

With this study, the Provincial Council is focusing on the definition of a more sustainable toll collection model, in line with Agenda 2030, reducing congestion and greenhouse gas emissions; an interoperable model, both at the technical and user level, allowing for the inclusion of regular and occasional users; and a more equitable financing model, allowing for the coverage of future preservation, maintenance and operation costs.
