Watford Conference 2025: presenting Connolly Station (Dublin)

From September 22 to 24, IDOM participated in the Watford Conference 2025 in London, which was organized by Network Rail. This international forum brings together engineering, architecture, and railway management professionals to discuss the future of stations.

In this edition, which focuses on the concept of legacy, our colleague Borja Aróstegui presented IDOM’s project for Connolly Station in Dublin. The proposal includes a new access point through the historic vaults supporting the original tracks. It integrates contemporary functionality and architectural memory, highlighting the value of railway heritage.

IDOM has a solid track record in remodeling highly complex stations and intervening in architectural heritage, combining technical innovation and historical sensitivity.

Along with Laura Piccardi, Borja represented IDOM at the Watford Conference, a meeting with prominent figures, including Lord Peter Hendy, Minister of State for Rail, and Chris Williamson, President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The conference included technical visits to flagship projects, including the Elizabeth Line stations and the St Pancras and King’s Cross urban developments.
