We lead the transformation of Abando station for the High Speed Railway
At IDOM, we are proud to lead the integral transformation of the Abando station in Bilbao, a key project for the arrival of the High Speed to the city and for urban regeneration, linking two districts of the city that until now have remained separated by the railway infrastructure.
Our work encompasses the development of all the projects that are necessary for the remodelling of the current station, making it compatible with the maintenance of the city’s Cercanías services.
This holistic approach integrates our knowledge in the railway field, civil works, architecture, urban and environmental integration, consolidating Abando as an intermodal, social and economic centre in the heart of Bilbao.
The configuration of the station below ground level on two levels will facilitate urban integration with the city and will free up some 130,000 square metres in which the Bilbao City Council will develop a Master Plan with the aim of generating a new centrality in Bilbao around the new intermodal complex.
