DART Maynooth line Expansion
Ireland
IDOM, as a multidisciplinary consultant, manages and executes supervision and design for the DART Maynooth line expansion in Dublin’s metropolitan area, Ireland. The client is Iarnród Éireann Services (Irish Rail), and the scope includes support and supervision during construction, conceptual and feasibility design, detailed design and tender support, legal process, testing, and commissioning.
The DART Expansion programme is a cornerstone of the Government’s National Development Plan for 2018 – 2027 and its major capital programme: Project Ireland 2040. The objective is to improve the electrification and signalling systems and provide a faster, more sustainable and safer railway system, which will increase frequencies and capacity in the Greater Dublin Area.
Introducing electrified high capacity trains on the Maynooth line will increase passenger capacity from the current 4,500 passengers per hour to almost 17,000 by 2027.
