EPCM of amino acid production plant for animal feed

Adisseo, a group belonging to the Bluestar company, is a world leader in the supply of nutritional solutions and additives for animal feed. It has three main business units and 18 production plants distributed throughout the world. Specifically, the plant in Burgos (Spain), which began operating in the mid-1970s, mainly produces liquid and solid methionine, an amino acid.
In this context, Adisseo developed and patented a totally innovative process for the production of a solid derivative of liquid methionine, locating the first production facility at its Burgos plant.
Adisseo entrusted IDOM with the development of EPCM services for this new plant in 2015, in an integrative approach with the client and technologist. IDOM developed the detailed engineering based on the patented process and carried out the management and activation of the purchase packages as well as the construction management.
The facility, attached to the existing plant, covers an area of approximately 10,000 m² and currently produces 9,000 tons/year of the new ADry+ product.
The preliminary engineering work carried out by IDOM has made it possible to design a fully operational production unit based on a pilot proposal.
