Georgia relies on IDOM to bolster its waste management system

Georgia

IDOM strengthens Georgia’s waste management system by introducing modern infrastructure for treatment and final disposal, closing dumpsites, and rehabilitating the land. This project is an initiative of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara (MoFEA) and is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Scope of the project

The project includes the following key actions:
– Conceptual design of a mechanical-biological treatment (MBT) plant.
– Detailed design of a waste transfer station.
– Detailed design for the closure and remediation of three uncontrolled landfills, one of which is currently in operation.

Furthermore, IDOM will provide technical assistance during the bidding processes for these infrastructures and will accompany the client in supervising construction.

Integral technical assistance

Beyond the design and execution of infrastructure, IDOM will support MoFEA in:
– The creation and launch of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU).
– Compliance with obligations arising from the project’s financial documents.
– The implementation of environmental and social requirements, in accordance with EBRD standards.
