The Natal airport terminal design project developed by IDOM in Brazil involves comprehensive engineering and architectural consulting services focused on the modernization and optimization of airport infrastructure. As part of the concession tender process, in partnership with the GAP-FIDENS group, IDOM completed detailed capacity-demand studies and a thorough functional analysis of the airport, including all its systems and buildings.

A key element of the project is the development of an Investment Plan and an Operational Plan for the entire concession period, ensuring that the infrastructure meets both current and future air traffic requirements.

The Natal airport terminal design aims to transform the passenger terminal into an iconic landmark in the region, reflecting the unique landscape and cultural atmosphere of Natal. The project emphasizes the integration of function, construction, aesthetics, and sustainability, adding significant value for both users and the airport’s image. The structural system has been designed according to passenger flows, employing transversal lines and longitudinal spaces that act as filters towards the airside. The roof, featuring a triangular spatial modulation, incorporates a skylight that provides natural lighting and allows passengers to gradually view the sky as they approach the airside façade.
