Scientific Technological and Social Park in Peru

Peru

The Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) launched an international competition to develop the Masterplan for the Scientific Technological and Social Park (PCTS), an ambitious project to be located in Santa María del Mar, a coastal town 40 km south of Lima. Covering an area of 45 hectares, the PCTS is set to become the country’s leading technology park and a regional benchmark in innovation, research, development, and sustainability.

IDOM’s proposal responds to PUCP’s vision of creating an ecosystem where academia, industry, and government converge, fostering knowledge transfer, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship. The Masterplan envisions a sustainable, flexible, and scalable urban environment capable of adapting to the evolving needs of the diverse stakeholders who will inhabit it, while promoting synergies across sectors.

The design of the the Scientific Technological and Social Park Masterplan is structured around a network of public spaces and shared facilities that encourage collaboration between small and medium-sized enterprises, large corporations, research centers, and the university itself. Pedestrian connectivity, integration with the coastal landscape, and the creation of an attractive setting for academic, professional, and social life are key priorities, along with a strong territorial identity.

The PCTS will include areas for laboratories, business incubators, offices, training centers, cultural spaces, and green zones, all organized under principles of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and climate resilience. IDOM’s proposal aims not only to generate an economic development hub, but also to establish an urban model that inspires new ways of living, working, and innovating in Peru’s future.

The Scientific Technological and Social Park Masterplan represents a unique opportunity to transform knowledge into a driver of national development, positioning Santa María del Mar as a strategic node within the global network of knowledge and innovation cities.
