Baggage handling systems (BHS) at Fuerteventura airport

IDOM has worked on the design and site supervision for the automated baggage handling systems (BHS) for the airport of Fuerteventura. Cutting-edge technology (CrisBag) has been used, to manage the movement and tracking of individual pieces of luggage in tubs using radio frequency identification technology (RFID), which allows the exact location of each piece of luggage to be managed  in the System and thus directed and classified to the destination point for transport to the plane.

The Automated Baggage Handling and Inspection System (SATE) is a critical infrastructure for ensuring efficiency, security, and traceability in modern airport baggage management. At Fuerteventura Airport, IDOM was responsible for both the design and project management of a state-of-the-art SATE.

This system is based on cutting-edge CrisBag technology, enabling the individualized transport of each piece of baggage on intelligent trays. With RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology integrated into each tray, every item of luggage can be identified and tracked in real time, allowing for precise location and efficient management from check-in to aircraft loading.
