Supervision of mechanical equipment commissioning

The scope of services requested by ENGIE to IDOM includes the provision of on-site supervision services for the commissioning of mechanical equipment related to the ventilation, air conditioning, and climate control systems — primarily fans, filters, duct balancing, instrumentation and control, among others —at the Taishan 1 and 2 nuclear power plants.
This scope involved the on-site presence of an experienced engineer during commissioning of mentioned structures, systems and components, supported by a team of experts working remotely from IDOM’s offices in Spain. This combination of working methodologies – front-office supported by back-office – proved to be highly effective during the system commissioning period by providing real-time data collected directly on-site, which was promptly transferred to the expert team for detailed evaluation and proper decision-making and commissioning procedure re-evaluation
The main activities carried out included:
- Site supervision and representation of ENGIE at the Taishan 1 and 2 nuclear power plant worksites.
- Supervision of subcontractors responsible for mechanical, instrumentation and control and electrical installations of the mechanical HVAC SSC´s.
- Daily management and evaluation of subcontractor claims regarding deviations in work/scope and performance, representing on behalf of ENGIE’s interests including contract clause management.
- Communication management with the client and other stakeholders involved.
