New Coliseum Stadium

The new Coliseum is conceived as a next-generation stadium, aligned with the current standards of professional football and with an increased capacity of up to 20,000 spectators.

The architectural proposal features a continuous ring of fully covered stands, the removal of the perimeter moat to bring spectators closer to the pitch, and a significant improvement in comfort and accessibility. The programme is completed with VIP boxes, new hospitality areas, large-format screens, and a wraparound façade defined by diagonal columns and translucent panels designed to integrate multimedia lighting and projection systems.

Beyond its purely sporting function, the project also addresses the transformation of the surrounding urban environment, enhancing public spaces and strengthening the connection between Getafe’s urban fabric and the hill located next to the stadium. This intervention opens up new possibilities for public use, making the Coliseum an active facility beyond match days.

The construction of the stadium has been phased, allowing Getafe CF to continue playing home matches at the venue throughout the works. This has posed a complex technical and logistical challenge that has directly influenced both the design and construction planning.

The project forms part of the agreement between LaLiga and CVC Capital Partners, which has enabled Spanish clubs to invest in strategic infrastructure, driving the modernisation of stadiums as sporting, urban and social assets.

At IDOM, the new Coliseum has been approached from a holistic perspective, combining architecture, engineering and sustainability criteria, supported by advanced design and coordination tools. The objective is to provide Getafe CF with a facility ready for elite football while also acting as a new urban landmark and a place of gathering for the city.

With this project, IDOM further strengthens its track record in the design and transformation of major sports infrastructures, reinforcing its national and international positioning and its commitment to projects that generate a positive and lasting impact on their surroundings.
