IDOM is developing connected road solutions to improve safety and traffic management in Catalonia
IDOM has started providing technical support to the General Directorate of Infrastructure and Mobility (DGIM) of the Department of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition. This support is intended to promote the Connected and Intelligent Roads Program (CCI) from 2026 to 2030 and prepare the initial technical specifications for the deployment of connected technology along various corridors of the Catalan road network.
The program will enable the integration of C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems) technology along several corridors of the Catalan road network, promoting safer and more informed mobility.
The deployment will include Roadside Units (RSUs) on roads such as the C-32, C-33, C-16, C-17, and C-58, along with other technological elements that will facilitate the transmission of relevant information to road users.
Thanks to these initiatives, drivers will be able to receive alerts about roadwork, specific incidents, or unexpected situations. Through this, the CCI program aims to contribute to improved road safety, optimize infrastructure management, and advance toward more sustainable mobility by reducing emissions and improving the efficiency of the road system.
