Among leading rail experts

SHARING EXPERIENCE OF RAIL PROJECTS IN ISTANBUL AND GUATEMALA CITY

The Watford Group is an international association of professionals involved in the design of stations and other elements related to the world of rail and issues such as their impact on the environment.

Each year, this group brings together some 80 experts from 20 different countries in a city whose recent urban development is of interest. In 2016, the Watford Conference was held in October took place between October 12 and 16, with activities in the neighbouring cities of Copenhagen (Denmark) and Malmö (Sweden). The municipalities are 8 km apart but united by the Oresund Bridge.

The main theme of the conference this year was Transport systems and their consistency in larger urban areas, generating debate on architectural solutions on these systems with special emphasis on urban landscaping, space, form, and urban adaption to different cultural situations.

Borja Aróstegui from IDOM presented Urban transport in historical city centres. Experiences Istanbul and Guatemala City. His presentation describe the experience of IDOM developing project in two very distinct cities.
