Designing key systems for California’s first high-speed rail line
IDOM will be part of the team responsible for developing the rail systems for California’s first high-speed rail line following the award of the Track & Systems Construction Contract (TSCC) to the joint venture formed by Kiewit, Stacy Witbeck, and Herzog (KSWH).
On this project, IDOM will serve as the lead systems designer and will participate in the design of signaling, communications, and substations, working alongside Kiewit Engineering, Arup, and Ineco.
The contract covers the installation of track and overhead contact lines, as well as the design and construction of the main railway systems along the 171-mile first segment of the line in California’s Central Valley, with potential for additional extensions. Its objective is to deploy the necessary superstructure for the launch of a high-speed rail corridor capable of operating trains at speeds of up to 350 km/h.
For IDOM, winning this contract represents an opportunity to contribute its expertise in rail systems to one of the most significant infrastructure projects currently under development in North America and to play a role, from its earliest stages, in shaping the future of high-speed rail in the United States.
