Engineering and environmental assessment for the future San Antonio outer port
The San Antonio Outer Port project received a favorable Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA), a significant milestone that strengthens Chile’s port infrastructure and strategic role in global trade.
The project is estimated to cost approximately US$4.45 billion and will have a projected capacity of up to 6 million TEUs per year. The project also includes new road and rail access routes that prioritize port-city integration as a key element of the surrounding area’s sustainable development.
IDOM supported the San Antonio Port Authority (EPSA) throughout the process leading up to the issuance of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) by conducting engineering work and technical studies designed to address the comments raised during the environmental assessment.
This work took a multidisciplinary approach, integrating hydraulic, geotechnical, geophysical, and environmental modeling and studies, as well as design optimization proposals. This technical contribution aimed to strengthen the viability and sustainability of strategic infrastructure in Chile.
