IDOM participates in EFE’s railway modernization in Chile with virtual signaling and ATP
IDOM has been awarded a contract by the State Railway Company (EFE) to provide review, engineering validation, and technical supervision services for the Virtual Signaling Control (CSV) project, a strategic initiative that will transform the Chilean railway network.
The CSV project will implement virtual signaling and Automatic Train Protection (ATP) systems across 1,965 kilometers of the EFE network, excluding services already equipped with ATP and the Arica–La Paz branch line. This new technological platform, developed to the highest international standards, will enable safer, more efficient, and better-connected railway operations, with real-time operational data.
Under the contract, IDOM will validate the engineering developed by Alstom, supervise, inspect, and monitor the implementation of the new systems, and assist EFE in the rollout of the operational model, while also providing specialized safety consulting (RAMS) and support in the development of the Safety Case.
Alstom will carry out the work, implementing the first pilot phase of the system, Section 0, on the route between Victoria and Temuco. Deployment is expected in the third quarter of 2026.
The project is expected to be completed between late 2027 and early 2028. This will be a decisive step forward in modernizing the national rail infrastructure.
With this project, IDOM reaffirms its commitment to the transformation and safety of rail transport in Chile, contributing to the development of innovative solutions that drive the future of mobility in the region.
