IDOM accompanies the institutional visit to the ATI-100 works in Ascó and Vandellós II
IDOM, responsible for the project management of the Individualized Temporary Storage Facilities (ATI-100) at the Ascó and Vandellós II nuclear power plants, recently accompanied an institutional visit led by Enresa‘s president, Olga García, as part of the progress of construction work on the facilities. The delegation included Enresa’s Secretary General, Cristina Pérez-Prat, and Technical Director, Mariano Navarro. They were received by ANAV representatives, including Director General Paulo Santos, Director of Technical Services Ferrán Tarrasa, and Head of Communication and External Relations Montse Godall.
IDOM is managing the construction of the ATI-100s at both sites in accordance with the 7th General Plan for Radioactive Waste. This plan anticipates that these facilities will store all spent fuel generated during the operation of the power plants until Spain has a deep geological disposal facility.
The project, which was awarded by ANAV, includes key tasks such as coordinating on-site activities, planning, managing contracts, supervising contractor certifications, and performing technical office functions. To ensure efficient execution, IDOM has deployed dedicated teams to Ascó and Vandellós II for the duration of the project, which is estimated at 24 months for Ascó NPP and 18 months for Vandellós NPP.
The institutional visit provided an opportunity to review progress and reaffirm the commitment of all entities involved to safety, quality, and sustainability in radioactive waste management.
