IDOM is supporting the Panama Canal in a great challenge
Adapting to climate change and conserving the environmental, economic and social values of the Panama Canal Basin
The Hydrographic Basin of the Panama Canal faces the important challenge of adapting to climate change, while conserving the enormous environmental values and economic and social development that it possesses. The Indicative Plan for Territorial and Environmental Planning (PIOTA) is an instrument that provides guidelines and advice to achieve the harmonious development of the Basin, preserving the important resources it possesses (highlighting water as fundamental right).
On June 7, a PIOTA presentation event was held, in which the Administrator of the Canal and the Representative of the Inter-American Development Bank, with the collaboration of IDOM, presented the attendees the result of this work, developed throughout 2021 and looking to a horizon of 50 years.
