Presenting our experience in passive design strategies at the CIBSE-IBPSA Technical Symposium

The CIBSE-IBPSA Technical Symposium 2025, held in London, brought together industry leaders, researchers and professionals to discuss the future of sustainable design in the built environment. Our colleague Mikel González participated as a speaker in this prestigious international event, presenting the case study “La Nueva Romareda stadium, shaped by the Cierzo wind. CFD studies to improve the performance of natural ventilation and user comfort“.

His presentation in the CIBSE-IBPSA Technical Symposium was part of the session “Passive Design Strategies for Sustainable and Comfortable Buildings”, which focused on passive design strategies to optimise environmental comfort in complex buildings. The case of the Zaragoza stadium, shaped by the Cierzo wind, served as an example of how CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation can improve natural ventilation and user comfort in large sports infrastructures.

The presentation aroused great interest among the participants, generating numerous questions and contributing to an enriching debate on innovation in sustainable design.

IDOM congratulates the organisers of the symposium, CIBSE and IBPSA-England, for a reference event that strengthens international collaboration and the search for resilient solutions for 2050.
