The way we design today shapes the planet we will leave behind tomorrow
On World Earth Day, we are reminded that protecting the environment means protecting people and their future. This commitment guides our work, and we dedicate our efforts and expertise to it.
At IDOM, we develop projects that address environmental challenges from various angles, including sustainable water management, biodiversity protection, developing resilient infrastructure, implementing nature-based solutions, and supporting communities vulnerable to climate change.
One example is the Ewao Mincaye REDD+ Conservation Project in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Within the territory of the Waorani Nation, the project aims to conserve over 72,000 hectares of pristine tropical forest with high biodiversity.
The community organization-driven initiative is based on the REDD+ mechanism for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. It combines environmental conservation, strengthened land management, and the promotion of local development.
IDOM participated in the technical structuring of the project by supporting the design of the REDD+ model, strengthening community-based land management, and consolidating a community-led conservation approach aligned with long-term environmental, social, and sustainability objectives.
EWAO shows that when designed with technical rigor and from within the local community, forest carbon projects can be an effective tool for protecting biodiversity, mitigating climate change, and generating lasting local development opportunities.
