We discussed heritage and architectural innovation in Riyadh
On 17 June 2025, IDOM took part in the MEAEC BuildTechXchange, one of the most relevant events in the AECO sector in the Middle East, discussing heritage and architectural innovation. Held in Riyadh, this forum brought together leaders in design, engineering and construction to explore innovative solutions to today’s urban and climate challenges.
On behalf of IDOM, Francisco Javier Casas Cobo, Director of Architecture in Saudi Arabia, gave an inspiring presentation entitled ‘Cultural Preservation in Modern Architecture: Balancing Tradition and Innovation’. His intervention underlined the need for architecture that respects cultural memory while incorporating emerging technologies and contemporary approaches.
Francisco, a Doctor of Architecture from the ETSAM and with an outstanding international career, provided a critical and committed vision of the balance between heritage and architectural innovation, tradition and innovation, values that form part of IDOM’s DNA.
Participation in this event reinforces IDOM’s global positioning as an active agent in the transformation of the built environment, committed to responsible, sustainable architecture with identity.
We share some of the projects that have taken these issues into account:
Archaeological sites of ancient Egypt – IDOM
Refurbishment of the Metropolitan seminary – IDOM
