Ricardo Magdalena Trophy for Architecture

THE LIBRARY AND GENERAL SERVICES BUILDING FOR STUDENTS OF THE SAN JORGE UNIVERSITY

The Ricardo Magdalena Trophy for architecture is a prize awarded by the Institución Fernando el Católico, in memory of the architect and painter from Zaragoza (1849-1910), one of the greatest exponents of architectural historicism in Spain. The purpose of the Trophy is to distinguish buildings whose general interest is especially relevant.

This edition received 19 proposals, which the members of the jury evaluated very positively. The work of our colleagues Antonio Lorén Collado and Olatz Maestre Rosales was unanimously chosen as the overall winner.

The project includes a new lecture building, library and general services for students in the San Jorge University Campus (located in Villanueva de Gállego, Spain). The Jury highlighted the correct insertion of the building in an eclectic environment and the balance achieved between the interior and exterior.
