Hydrotreated Vegetable Oils (HVO) – 4,000 BPSD
Portugal
The 4,000 BPSD hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) biorefinery planned for PRIO BIO in Portugal exemplifies a commitment to sustainable renewable diesel production. IDOM has delivered the conceptual design for OSBL units and FEL III economic estimation, supporting the implementation of Honeywell-UOP’s Ecofining™ technology to convert vegetable oils, animal fats, and used cooking oils into high-efficiency, low-emission fuels.
Our client PRIO BIO has studied the possible construction of a new plant to produce HVO, that is, a Biorefinery for Hydrotreated Vegetal Oils.
IDOM has completed the conceptual design of the OSBL units and its FEL III cost estimate.
The technology chosen by our client for the ISBL units was EcofiningTM from Honeywell-UOP, in order to produce green diesel from renewal feedstocks, such as vegetable oils, animal fats, and used cooking oils (UCO). This plant is expected to be very energy efficient with low greenhouse gas emissions making it possible to achieve economies of scale while meeting sustainability criteria.
