Packaging Office Building. New Estrella Galicia Brewery
The Packaging Offices Building of the new Estrella Galicia brewery in Morás (Arteixo), designed by IDOM, is part of a comprehensive vision that understands industrial architecture as an opportunity to generate city, well-being, and landscape. Beyond its strictly operational function, the project helps define the image and everyday experience of the industrial complex, strengthening its relationship with the surrounding environment and with the people who inhabit it.
Located on a natural balcony facing southeast, the building opens onto a tree-lined esplanade that acts as a transitional space between the production infrastructure and the public realm. This landscape gesture, together with the design of gardens, pedestrian routes, and a green parking area, reinforces the urban character of the complex and enhances the site’s environmental quality.
The administrative volume, attached to the packaging hall, is conceived as a longitudinal and monolithic piece, with a clear and direct industrial language. Its internal organization follows a modular and flexible logic, based on the structural grid of the hall itself, allowing for seamless connections between offices, laboratories, changing rooms, and production support spaces.
The building envelope, composed of a system of vertical ribs and prefabricated concrete panels, regulates solar radiation and gives the complex a robust and dynamic image. The use of natural daylight, cross ventilation, and integrated building services form part of an overall strategy focused on efficiency and sustainability.
The project incorporates advanced solutions for climate control, water management, lighting, and renewable energy, and meets LEED Gold standards. As a whole, the building reflects Estrella Galicia’s and IDOM’s commitment to responsible, functional industrial architecture that is attentive to people’s well-being.
