Detailed engineering and reverse osmosis at Salalah desalination plant, Oman (120,000 m³/day)
Oman
The detailed engineering and reverse osmosis project at the Salalah desalination plant in Oman stands out for its adaptability to challenging local climate conditions.
Designed to produce 120,000 m³/day of potable water, the plant features an advanced three-stage pretreatment system (DAF, DMGF, and DMPF) that ensures optimal water quality before reaching the reverse osmosis membranes.
This detailed engineering allows the facility to operate efficiently even during the “Khareef” weather phenomenon, which causes increased suspended solids, algae, and turbidity in seawater.
The consortium of ABENGOA and WEBUILD entrusted IDOM with the basic and detailed engineering of the project, ensuring resilience and high-quality potable water supply at all times.
