Strategic Plan for the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras

The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) contracted IDOM to develop of its Strategic Plan for 2015 looking to 2020 with the aim of making the Port of Algeciras a benchmark at European and global level. The project included the development of a strategic diagnosis, the analysis and approach of strategic alternatives and goals and the communication and control and monitoring proposals for its implementation.

International port of reference becoming a Smart Port

The Plan made it possible to establish the action plans and the eight strategic axes on which to structure the initiatives of the port, improving its competitiveness, and thus consolidating itself as the first port in the Mediterranean. Among the established strategic objectives is its positioning as an intercontinental logistics platform, a port node, and intermodal reference node, becoming the southern gate of Europe for commercial traffic and the center of excellence in maritime and port services for passengers, ships and commodities.

This approach of excellence in management, together with a commitment to innovation as a key element to increase competitiveness, has allowed Algeciras to become one of the leading ports in the field of Smart Ports worldwide.

Likewise, the project prepared by IDOM has allowed the evaluation, selection and design of the port, logistics and road and rail accessibility infrastructures, necessary for the Port to face with full guarantees the important traffic growth expected in the period.
