Water supply in the Sousse region: planning and digitalization for efficient management
Tunisia
The Sousse region is one of the Mediterranean’s main tourist destinations. While its permanent population is around 400,000, during peak tourist periods it can swell to as many as 2 million people. These abrupt seasonal increases present a significant challenge in the planning and operation of the water supply network.
Strategic planning of potable water distribution systems is essential to guarantee the current and future water supply for users.
IDOM’s first step was to digitalize and organize all existing data. This was followed by a comprehensive assessment of the current state of the network, paving the way for the planning of improvements and future expansions. Having a complete digital model of the network, which extends over 600 km, has proven to be an indispensable tool for efficient water supply management and planning.
The contract scope includes the development of a hydraulic model of the network and the preliminary design for the first-phase works of the Master Plan.
