Pembroke Combined Cycle Power Plant (2,000 MW): Advanced civil engineering for Wales’ largest power station
UK
The Pembroke Combined Cycle Power Plant, located in Wales with a capacity of 2,000 MW, is one of the largest power generation facilities in the UK. This Pembroke Combined Cycle Power Plant is built on the site of a decommissioned oil-fired station and uses liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Milford Haven. With five 400 MW modules, each equipped with an Alstom GT 26B gas turbine, heat recovery boiler, and steam turbine, the plant features hydrogen-cooled generators and supplies electricity to two and a half million homes. As Architect Engineer, IDOM developed the basic and detailed engineering for the civil works and steel structures.
It consists of 5 modules of 400 MW each, equipped with an Alstom 288 MW GT 26B gas turbine, a heat recovery boiler and a steam turbine. The Plant uses hydrogen-cooled electric generators and produces enough electricity to power two and a half million homes.
Alstom has contracted IDOM as an Architect Engineer, developing the basic and detailed engineering of civil works and metal structures.
