Basque industry players meet at IDOM to discuss AI
Artificial intelligence is no longer just a promising technology; it has become a real driver of competitiveness in industry. However, many organizations still face the same challenge of moving from initial interest and experimentation to structured, impactful implementation.
On June 25, IDOM convened industrial sector professionals in Bilbao for a conference focused on the practical application of artificial intelligence. Rather than merely presenting solutions or trends, the event addressed a common challenge faced by many companies: how to implement AI in real-world processes in a structured and sustainable manner.
A key takeaway from the session was that AI adoption is not solely a technological issue. Although interest in these solutions is growing, and they are beginning to be used by teams in their day-to-day work, this often happens in an unstructured way, without a clear strategy or defined governance framework. This can lead to a loss of control, inconsistent results, and difficulties scaling its use within an organization.
In this context, industrial companies must address several critical questions:
which use cases to address first, how to ensure data quality and availability, how to integrate AI into their existing processes, and how to define a governance model that enables its safe and efficient adoption.
The meeting also addressed the role of the ecosystem in this process. Institutions are facilitating companies’ access to these types of technologies through initiatives that support the development of strategies and the implementation of specific projects aimed at improving competitiveness.
The session integrated this vision with practical examples and real-world experiences to demonstrate how artificial intelligence can be applied in areas such as document analysis, improved decision-making, and process optimization. A common theme emerged throughout: the value of AI lies not in the technology itself, but in its ability to solve specific business problems.
For IDOM, this is precisely the starting point. Effectively adopting artificial intelligence requires a comprehensive approach combining strategy, data, technology, and people. This approach enables organizations to identify opportunities and implement solutions in their day-to-day operations.
The event’s success, as shown by the high level of interest and participation, indicates that the industry is currently undergoing a period of significant change. AI is already here, but the real challenge begins now: turning that potential into concrete initiatives that generate real impact.
