Circular economy, improving port infrastructure

Workshop on Port Pavements: Sustainable pavements design for container ports

On 24 January, our colleague Carlos Barat took part in one of the round tables of the Workshop on Port Pavements: Sustainable pavements design for container ports, organized by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Puertos del Estado and the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts, with the collaboration of the Spanish Institute of Cement and its Applications (IECA), Bekaert and the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Among other things, Carlos spoke about the specific work developed by IDOM in the area of resource circularity to improve the Muelle de Costa terminal in the Port of Valencia. Going one step further than the original project, we proposed to recycle the existing pavement as a base for the new one. In this way, we are supporting the move towards carbon neutrality and contributing to the European strategy for a circular economy, as set out in the European Green Pact.
