IDOM comes to your school

Dolores Sanz meeting students in 3rd year of ESO to talk about engineering

One of the aspects of IDOM’s collaboration with the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAING) and with the Women and Engineering project is our participation in the program “Women and Engineering come to your school”. On November 16, we made our debut with a visit to San Sebastian de los Reyes where our colleague Dolores Sanz, Telecommunications Engineer, and two future engineers, Patricia de Felipe, a biotechnology student, and Blanca Zaragoza, a chemical engineering student, met with the students of the 3rd year of ESO of IES Julio Palacios in the Marcelino Camacho Municipal Occupational Training Center.

The objective? To encourage children, especially girls, to study STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

For this, a video was projected in which Dolores gave some insights into the profession, after which she talked about what motivated her to study engineering, her experience… and showed some images of the Riyadh metro project.

Soon it will be the turn of María Encarna Jiménez, Industrial Engineer and Manager of the IDOM Office in Murcia.

IDOM also collaborates with the Inspira STEAM project of the University of Deusto, which also aims to promote technical vocations of boys and girls, especially the latter. In this academic year 2022-2023, 12 IDOM colleagues from the Bilbao and Zaragoza offices are participating in the project by holding sessions in schools.
