New stadium for «San Lorenzo» (Argentina)

CÉSAR AZCÁRATE WILL BE THE PROJECT DIRECTOR

Last Wednesday the 19th of February, IDOM reached an agreement with Club Atletico San Lorenzo de Almagro, Argentina, for the preliminary design and business model of its new stadium in the neighbourhood of Boedo, in Buenos Aires.

The president of the club, Marcelo Tinelli, met with the director of our office in Argentina, Manuel Andrades, to make the agreement official. He would afterwards state “We are very happy and full of expectations, anxious to start working on this ambitious endeavour which, I have no doubt, will improve the quality of life of all the residents in the vicinity”.

Cesar Azcarate, chief architect responsible for the design and construction of the new San Mames Stadium, will direct this project. He will prepare a Master Plan that will consider all aspects of the resettling of the stadium in the area, from the technical and strictly architectural details to the implementation of a business model.

There will be a special focus put on how the stadium relates to the community, contributing a conceptual design that revitalizes the area and includes, apart from the sport-related use, others such as educational, social, cultural and commercial ones.

The idea of the Ciclon, as it’s known among its fan base, is for it to be a model stadium, a worldwide reference as regards to this synergy with the population and for it to also comply, without losing its identity as a driving force, with the highest FIFA standards.
