Participating in the 2022 FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre Partners Summit

Presenting Bilbao Arena as an example of a project that has been able to adapt to new demands

The 2022 FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre Partners Summit took place in Antwerp on June 23 and 24. Our colleague Javier Dávila was invited to participate in the event on behalf of IDOM and as vice-president of IAKS Spain (International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities).

During his presentation, entitled: The Trends in the Venues and Facility Industry, Javier presented the Bilbao Arena, analysing how the flexibility of the design has allowed it to adapt to the new demands that have arisen over the years.

The FIBA E&V Centre is FIBA’s department whose aim is to set the standards for basketball equipment and venues, while providing a global platform to achieve the highest level of quality and offering approval testing and innovation related to basketball equipment and software. Its partners supply approved products that meet the stringent requirements of high-level basketball competitions.

At the 2022 Partners Summit, FIBA brought together, for the first time, in this format professionals from companies across a broad spectrum of equipment companies with the aim of facilitating collaboration between them, through presentations and networking. In this context, IDOM was the first Architecture and Engineering firm invited to participate in this summit, covering the spectrum related to venues, from the design and functionality perspective. The summit will be held biannually in keeping with the spirit of innovation and standardisation promoted by the FIBA E&V Centre.
