Participating in the Philippines-Spain Multilateral Development Partnership 2022

On November 7, 8, 9 and 10, the Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) and the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Manila organized the Second Philippines-Spain Multilateral Partnership in Manila (Philippines). The aim of the event is to present Spanish companies with the opportunities financed by Multilateral Banks and International Financial Institutions in certain regions. As in the previous edition in 2017, IDOM was one of the participating Spanish companies. On this occasion there were a total of 22 leading companies in the Transport, Water, Energy and Health sectors.

Our colleagues Melba Martin Redondo, Director of Business Development in Southeast Asia, and Yolanda Cerezo, Director of Multilateral Architecture Projects, attended the presentations of the Spanish Economic and Commercial Offices in the Philippines, Thailand, Bangladesh and Vietnam, participating in seminars and sectoral forums. They also had over 20 bilateral meetings with local companies in the sector.

During the first day, Melba presented to the group of Spanish companies some ideas on the practical experience and success stories of IDOM in the multilateral markets of the Philippines and Southeast Asia, such as the design project for the new MRT line 4 of Metro Manila or the Philippines Food Chain Logistics Master Plan 2022-2040, both financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Inés Monclus, a colleague from the IDOM Philippines office, was also present during the presentation.

On the second and third day, at a round table along with representatives of different Philippine Ministries, the ADB, and two other Spanish companies, Juan Carlos de Miguel, Development Director of IDOM, and Yolanda Cerezo presented technical case studies, such as the Zero Energy Building design in transport (La Coruña station) or the use of BIM in the development of our projects. Colleagues from the IDOM Philippines team were also in attendance.

The last day of the Partnership consisted of specific meetings with the technical team of the ADB at its headquarters in Manila. In fact, in 2019, IDOM carried out a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for this headquarter facilities. Meetings the ADB facilities team offered the opportunity to follow up on the actions set out in the analysis report.
