Al-Khairat Simple Cycle Power Plant – 1,250 MW consisting of 10 125-MW modules
The Al-Khairat Simple Cycle thermal power plant is located in Kerbela, southwest of the capital of Iraq, Badgad.
It is a power plant composed of 10 GE Gas Turbine Modules, Frame 9E model, with a nominal power of 125 MW each, which gives the plant a combined capacity of 1,250 MW. The main fuel is crude oil (CO) and reserve fuels are distilled from light oil (LDO) and Natural Gas.
The plant has been designed, in a first phase, for simple cycle operation, with the eventual expansion and operation in a combined cycle configuration in the future.
