Implementation of an integrated assets and infrastructure management system in virtual environments

The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) is immersed in an improvement project to maintain its competitive position as a reference port between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.

The main challenge was to provide the port with a platform to transform the various data generated into useful information for port operations. IDOM supported APBA in the development of an integral system for the management of facilities and infrastructures in a virtual environment, based on a Geographic Information System (GIS) that manages the physical elements of the port. The main tasks developed during the project were the preparation of functional and technical requirements, the design of the software architecture and integrations. In addition, the analysis of hardware and software suppliers, as well as the development of the system: software installation, interfaces, modification of existing systems (PMS, incident management, etc.).

The IDOM team also oversaw the installation of the equipment: video wall, tablets and touch screens, graphics servers, storage, network equipment and operator stations. The terms of the contracts with the suppliers, such as warranty, maintenance, pricing model, etc., were also defined. Finally, testing and commissioning were carried out.
