Marqués de Riscal, one of the most prestigious wineries in La Rioja Alavesa, decided to create the City of Wine, which aims to raise awareness of wine, its history, culture and philosophy.
A structural challenge
With this object, Frank Gehry designs a buiding, in colaboration with IDOM, with rounded shapes and volumes resembling cascades of coloured titanium in pink, gold and stainless steel seem to float above the ground thanks to three immense columns that support the building.
The project includes a wine therapy spa, a wine museum, an enological research and training center and an exclusive hotel, in addition to all the infrastructures of a winery like Marqués de Riscal.
