Hydro-wind microgrid Gorona del Viento El Hierro: Renewable integration for island energy self-sufficiency
Spain
The Hydro-wind microgrid Gorona del Viento El Hierro project, developed by IDOM, establishes a facility capable of meeting the island’s entire energy demand exclusively from renewable sources. This Hydro-wind microgrid Gorona del Viento El Hierro incorporates configuration studies, integration, and electrical stability analysis for the power plant, which features over 11 MW of renewable generation and a 6 MW pumping installation, on an island with a peak consumption of just 5 MW.
Configuration studies and stability analyse done by IDOM for the new Power Plant of Gorona del Viento, contributes to the integration of wind generating and a pumping storage station of more of 10 MW each, in the isolated and weak system of Hierro Island, just with a peak power demand of 5 MW.
The scope of the services provided also includes the detailed design of detail, the on-site works supervision, and technical assistance during commissioning.
